Big Green Day - Saturday 1st October 2022

Climate Action Frodsham hosted our first Big Green Day - a free community event to learn about planet-friendly ways of living. With over 100 attendees throughout the day, visitors were encouraged to think more about climate change and how we might our own behaviour and the systems we operate in to address it.

The following stallholders visited on the day to tell us more about what they're doing to help address our changing climate, feel free to click on the links below to learn more:

In addition we hosted four talks from expert speakers aimed at helping people to learn more about our changing climate, how to reduce our own impact and save money on energy bills. These were:

Climate Change: Why We Need To Meet COP26 Pledges - Fiona Barry - Frodsham Women's Institute

How Does Food Impact Climate Change? - Jon Curry - Climate Action Frodsham

Reducing Home Heating Costs - Chris Copeman

Eco Fair Saturday 25th September 2021

The fair, hosted by Frodsham Methodist Church was a great day, lots of opportunity to chat to people about our group and what we are doing.

Our stall focussed on our aims and projects

  • Raising awareness of the urgency

    • Giving away copies of our new leaflet

    • Displaying the climate stripes (as above) and on our face masks which gives a stark representation of the changing average global temperature over the last 2 centuries.

    • Sharing how we have been engaging with local schools, groups and businesses for the GBGW

  • School Solar - Committee members are working with the community energy organisation Chester Community Energy to seek funding for a viable business case for this in Frodsham

  • More Renewables - we are in discussions with owners of various businesses locally seeking suitable roofs for community owned renewable energy installations - do you know of any?

  • Library of Things - Committee members are in consultation with Council partners seeking suitable premises for storage and loaning of a collection of items we hope to obtain. We will need donations for this in due course.

  • Voices - a separate communications channel for sharing petitions and campaigns for those wishing to add their voice.

    • Including particularly the Great Big Green Week's Declaration, telling the Prime Minister the "Time Is Now" to lead the UK towards a healthier, greener, fairer future. Ahead of hosting the United Nations climate summit in Glasgow in 2021
